Are you the organization admin? It is best to reach out to your IT department. Looks like your organization might have policies to restrict it to certain users/groups. Teams meeting - cannot give control to participants
I have tried the following options to trouble-shoot with my meeting participants, but I am still not able to click 'give control' when meeting some of them:
- Make sure they are using the desktop app version of Teams, not the browser version
- Check the 'sharing settings' of both my and the participant
- Check that I have 'enabled GPU hardware acceleration' on my Teams.
Please advise, thank you.

2026-03-26T00:39:53.07+00:00 Dear @Rachel Lau,
Welcome to Q&A forum. I understand that during a Teams meeting you’re able to share your screen, but the Give control option is unavailable for some participants.
In Microsoft Teams, this behavior is expected in certain scenarios. The Give control feature only works when the other participant has Presenter (or Organizer) permissions and has joined the meeting with full interaction rights. If a participant joins as an Attendee, or joins in view‑only mode (for example, if the meeting has reached capacity), Teams will disable the Give control option by design, even though screen sharing still works.
Please note that enabling GPU hardware acceleration does not affect the Give control feature, as this setting only impacts performance and display.
To better assistance, could you please check:
- Whether the affected participants are set as Presenters in the meeting
- Whether the issue occurs only with specific participants
- Whether this is a standard scheduled meeting or a large meeting that may reach capacity
As a quick test, you may assign the participant the Presenter role during the meeting and then re‑share your screen to see if the Give control option becomes available.
Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.
I truly appreciate your patience and understanding. If you have any further questions or need further clarification, please feel free to reach out. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your cooperation.
