I have a team account which was migrated from a skype account. The account name is: [PII].

I accidentally changed team's login account to [PII]@gmail.com, and then I canceled it in my verification email.

However, after that I could not login into the teams account: [PII]. Now Teams show I have only two accounts:

  1. [PII]@sbcglobal.net
  2. [PII]@gmai.com

The second one is wrong and it should be my old one: [PII]

could you please restore my teams' account: [PII].

Thanks!

    Hello Xinan Tang,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially when your account was working fine before.

During the Skype-to-Teams migration, your legacy Skype Name was linked to a Microsoft account. When you started changing the login email and then canceled mid-process, it likely left your account in a partially updated state – causing the original Skype Name to no longer be recognized as a valid sign-in method.

Here are the steps you can try to resolve this:

    1. Sign in via InPrivate/Incognito browser at https://teams.live.com/v2/ using your original Skype Name – this sometimes still works for legacy accounts.
    2. Review your account aliases at https://account.live.com/names/manage – check if your original name is still listed and if the @gmail.com was accidentally added or stuck as a pending alias. You can try removing the Gmail alias and restoring the original.
    3. Export your Skype data at https://secure.skype.com/en/data-export – Microsoft has extended the deadline for Skype data export to June 2026, so I'd recommend doing this soon to be safe.

As a community moderator, I'm unable to restore or re-link Skype accounts on the backend. If the steps above don't resolve the issue, please contact Microsoft Support directly at OneCustomer | Chat Support – an engineer can investigate and fix the account linkage.

I hope these steps help you regain access. Please let me know if you have any further questions!
