Edge etrade website 2fa problems

etrade used to send sms for 2fa after put in user name and pw. Now it quit doing it. Logged off. Restarted. Same thing. It works in the google browser. I cleared cache and cookies. Anyone else have this issue? Or know how to fix it

This looks like a browser-specific issue with Edge, not your account or phone, since it still works in Chrome. Most likely something in Edge (tracking protection, cookies, or an extension) is blocking the 2FA step.

Please give these a try:

Test in InPrivate window → if it works, it’s a setting/extension
Disable ad blockers or privacy extensions
Set Tracking Prevention from Strict → Balanced
Allow cookies and pop-ups for E*TRADE
Clear site data just for E*TRADE and sign in again

Let me know whether it works in InPrivate mode in Edge or not?

Same problem in InPrivate. Tried all your steps above still not working. Reinstalled Edge, didnt fix it. could it have something to do with my profile settings.

Thanks for the follow up!

If it’s still not working in InPrivate and after reinstalling Edge, then it’s likely not extensions or cache anymore.

Create a new Edge profile (don’t sync anything) and test login there

Check if you’re using Secure DNS, VPN, or custom network filtering → try turning them off

Try logging in on the same device but different network (e.g., mobile hotspot)

Seems like this is not something you can fix on your side.

What to do next:

Use another browser as a workaround for now.

Report it to E*TRADE support so they can investigate their login flow in Edge
