The timed_out error usually happens when the sign-in request to Microsoft Entra ID takes too long or gets interrupted. This can happen due to browser cache issues, network delays, VPN/proxy connections, or MFA/Conditional Access prompts not completing properly.

I've got a client that has been experiencing this issue for the last two days when they try to use the excel connector. I'm able to reproduce when I try to connect to their environment. They are able to login to D365 normally.

While this is a great workaround that allows users to open the Excel file, I don't believe it addresses the underlying issue. We're finding that users need to perform this workaround every time they attempt to access a new spreadsheet in Excel opened from Dynamics.
Checking our logs, we're seeing "Sign-in error code 700084" which suggests a token problem.
Traditionally, Dynamics has been great at handing off to the local install of Excel using the Dynamics Office Plugin. Something has changed that breaks this handoff and I'd like to know how to actually fix it rather than teaching all of my users the provided workaround.

Joe totally agree, I didn't realize we had to do it each time, but at the moment, a work around is better than nothing when you've got a lot of heat with a lot of users trying to complete month end.
