I have windows 11 installed on my steam deck on the latest available build, but I am not seeing any options for enabling xbox mode in Settings > Gaming. According to posts iv seen online, xbox mode was officially released for windows 11 handheld devices. How do I get the official xbox mode on my steamdeck?

    Hi Rob S,

I understand that you’re facing an issue where “Xbox mode” is not showing under “Settings > Gaming” on your Windows 11 Steam Deck.

Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, could you please help confirm a few details:

    • What exact Windows version and build are you running? (Go to “Settings > System > About” and share the version, e.g., 23H2 / 24H2)
    • When you open “Settings > Gaming”, do you see any reference to “Xbox mode” at all, or is the option completely missing?
    • Did you install Windows directly on the Steam Deck, or are you using a custom/modified Windows image?
    • What is your device region set to? (Check under “Settings > Time & Language > Region”)

    Looking forward to your update.

Xbox Cloud Gaming “handheld” or “Xbox mode” on Windows is not documented in the provided context. The only handheld-related Xbox experience in the context is for Steam Deck running SteamOS, where Xbox Cloud Gaming is accessed through Microsoft Edge (via Flatpak), not via a Windows “Xbox mode” setting.

From the context, the supported way to get an Xbox-like handheld experience on a Steam Deck is:

    1. Use SteamOS on the Steam Deck, switch to Desktop Mode.
    2. Install Microsoft Edge (community-maintained Flatpak package) as described.
    3. Set up an Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) shortcut in Steam and return to Gaming Mode so it appears in the NON-STEAM section of the library.
    4. Optionally apply the official Xbox Cloud Gaming artwork to make it look integrated in Gaming Mode.

There is no information in the context about enabling a special “Xbox mode” under Windows 11 Settings > Gaming on a Steam Deck or any other handheld. The documented solution for Steam Deck is browser-based Xbox Cloud Gaming via Edge on SteamOS, not a Windows feature toggle.
