I accidently registered for a Microsoft premium subscription. I had two options. 1. Pay monthly or 2. Register for the year - . I interpreted it it as i was paying monthly for one month only - nowhere did it say it would continue taking payments for a year - this is intentionally VERY misleading and can easily be considered false advertising. I was definitely mislead, have only had the subscription for an hour and want to cancel - however when I login to my account it only lets me cancel after I've paid the whole year!!!!! What a scam! There is no contact number and I'm looking for a support person to speak with.

    Hello Maigan Cowen

I understand you have been misled to purchasing Microsoft 365 premium membership for year

Since Q&A assist already provided several methods for you to cancel the subscription, I would like to add a detail step on how you can reach Microsoft Support for further assistance about this issue:

    1. Open a website link - Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the box below "We're here to help", type Microsoft 365, click "Get Help", and then click "Contact Support" below.
    3. In this section, you will need to sign in to your Microsoft account.
    4. Select "Microsoft 365 and Office" under Products & Services, select "Manage my Subcription" as the category, and click to confirm
    5. You can select " Chat with a support agent in your web browser " to access the chat window.

Please note that this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, are not allowed to directly interfere with Microsoft product features or access back-end systems. To stop further charges and try to resolve this:

    1. Cancel or turn off recurring billing
      1. Go to the Microsoft account Services page: https://account.microsoft.com/services.
      2. Sign in with the same Microsoft account used to buy the Microsoft 365 Premium subscription.
      3. Under the Microsoft 365 subscription, select Cancel subscription (or Upgrade or Cancel).
        • If there is no cancel option but it shows Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to end on the date shown and will not renew; no further action is needed.
      4. Follow the on-screen steps and confirm I don't want my subscription to complete cancellation.
    2. If there is no cancel option If the subscription was purchased through a third party (e.g., retailer, Google Play, Apple App Store), cancellation and refunds must be handled with them:
      • For retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, etc., contact the retailer directly.
      • For Google Play purchases, see Learn about Google Play refund policies.
      • For Apple App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple support.
    3. If still being charged after cancelling
      • Cancellations must be more than 2 days before the billing date. Check the subscription end date on the Subscriptions page.
      • Verify that the correct Microsoft account is being used; if the wrong account is signed in, charges may appear to continue.
    4. Requesting a refund
      • After signing in at https://account.microsoft.com/services and cancelling, follow the instructions under How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription if eligible.
      • For more detailed cancellation and refund terms, see the Microsoft Store Terms of Sale linked from the refund article.
    5. Contacting support
      • For additional help, go to Contact Microsoft Support from the refund article, enter the problem, select Get Help, then Contact Support to be routed to a support option.

Be aware that cancelling Microsoft 365 will reduce cloud storage back to the free allowance (5 GB OneDrive + Outlook.com attachments and 15 GB Outlook.com storage). If storage used is above the free limit, uploading/syncing files and sending/receiving Outlook.com email may be blocked, and OneDrive content may eventually be deleted after the retention period.
