    Hi Vinnie Smith

I understand you’re having trouble importing Android contacts from a .vcf (vCard) file into classic Outlook for Windows, and the Import/Export wizard only shows a “data file” instead of creating contacts. Have you tried the AI given steps yet? Is your Android export a single .vcf file containing all contacts, or many separate .vcf files (one per contact)?

    Please also:

    1) Import vCards the supported way (not via Import/Export)

Open the vCard and save it as a contact.

From an Outlook email message (vCard attached)

    • Open the email that contains the vCard.
    • In the message body, click the vCard, right‑click it, then select Add to Outlook Contacts.
    • In the contact window, select Save & Close.
    • Repeat for each vCard attachment.

From File Explorer (.vcf saved on your PC)

    • Save the .vcf file to your PC.
    • Open (double‑click) the .vcf file — it should open in an Outlook contact window if Outlook is installed.
    • Select Save & Close.

    2) If your Android export is one .vcf containing many contacts

3)Export as Outlook CSV, then import into Outlook

If your Android contacts are in Google Contacts, please export Outlook CSV and then import it into classic Outlook using the Import/Export wizard. For further guidance please see:

To get a .vcf (vCard) contacts file from a phone into Outlook on Windows, use the supported path: convert the .vcf to a .csv file via the Windows Contacts folder, then import the .csv into Outlook. Importing the .vcf directly in Outlook typically just shows a data file and does not bulk‑create contacts.

    Use this alternate procedure:

    1. Export all contacts from the phone to a single .vcf file
      • Ensure the export on the Android phone produced one .vcf that contains all contacts, not just one contact.
      • Transfer that .vcf file to the PC (for example via email attachment or cloud storage) and save it to a known folder (e.g., Downloads or Documents).
    2. Convert the .vcf to .csv using Windows Contacts
      1. Open File Explorer on the PC.
      2. Go to the Contacts folder:
        • C:\Users\<username>\Contacts
      3. At the top of the Contacts window, select Import.
      4. Choose vCard (VCF file) > Import.
      5. Browse to and select the saved .vcf file from the phone, then choose Open.
      6. For each contact that appears, select OK to add it to Windows Contacts.
        • Note: For many contacts this is repetitive; there is no bulk “OK” option.
      7. When finished, select Close.
      8. At the top of the Contacts window, select Export.
      9. Choose CSV file > Export.
      10. Select Browse, choose a name and location for the .csv file, then Save.
      11. Select the fields to export (accept the defaults is recommended) and choose Finish.
      12. Confirm the message that contacts were exported to a .csv file.
      13. Optionally open the .csv in Excel to review the data, but do not change the header row.
    3. Import the .csv into Outlook
      • In Outlook for Windows, use the Import/Export wizard to import contacts from the .csv file into the Contacts folder. Follow the documented steps in Import contacts from a .csv file referenced in the articles.

If only a single vCard is attached to an email and opened directly, Outlook will show that one contact and allow Save & Close, but that does not bulk‑import all contacts. For bulk import, the .vcf → Windows Contacts → .csv → Outlook path is required.
