Uninstalling new Outlook is not required to switch back to classic Outlook.
To go back to classic Outlook for Windows:
- Open the new Outlook for Windows.
- Use the toggle at the top right of the Outlook window.
- When selecting the toggle, choose “Switch back to classic Outlook”. This toggles back to classic Outlook; the next time classic Outlook is launched, it will open the classic app instead of redirecting to new Outlook.
- Alternatively, choose “Use classic Outlook this time” if classic Outlook is only needed temporarily. This launches classic Outlook once but keeps new Outlook as the default for future launches.
If classic Outlook is not installed on the device, it must be installed first before the toggle appears.
New and classic Outlook can also be run side-by-side by toggling and then pinning both apps to the taskbar or Start.
