When I am hosting a Zoom call, I keep getting an error message that says "Zoom does not detect your audio device". I tried troubleshooting the issue and it is still not resolved. It is telling me that I may need to update my audio driver but I'm not sure how to do this.

    Hi,

Access msinfo32.exe in the search bar, take a screenshot, and post it here so we can see the correct laptop model.

If you use headphones, please specify if the connection is via jack or USB.

Go to Start Menu > Settings > System > Sound > All Sound Devices > go to the Input Devices tab and check if the microphone is being recognized and enabled and check in Start Menu > Settings > Privacy and Security > Microphone > see if it is enabled and if the option "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is enabled.

    Thanks

To resolve the Zoom message “Zoom does not detect your audio device” on Windows 11, update and repair the audio driver and then verify microphone access.

    1. Reinstall the audio driver in Device Manager
      1. Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. For each audio device listed, right-click it and select Uninstall device.
      4. If shown, check Attempt to remove the driver for this device (or Delete the driver software for this device) and select Uninstall.
      5. Repeat for any other audio devices.
      6. Restart the PC. Windows will attempt to reinstall the audio devices and drivers automatically.
      7. If nothing appears after restart, open Device Manager, right-click Sound, video and game controllers, and select Scan for hardware changes.
      8. After devices reappear, right-click the audio driver and select Update driver.
    2. Make sure apps (including Zoom) can use the microphone
      1. Select Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
      2. Select Change, then turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.
      3. Under Choose which Microsoft Store apps can access your microphone, ensure access is enabled as needed.
      4. Ensure Allow desktop apps to access your microphone is set to On so desktop apps like Zoom can use it.
    3. Confirm the correct input device and test it in Windows
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. Under Input, select the microphone or headset that should be used.
      3. Use the Input settings test (for Windows 11) or Test your microphone (for Windows 10) and speak normally to confirm Windows is receiving audio.

If Zoom still reports no audio device after these steps, verify the headset or microphone is correctly plugged in and not muted, and test with another device to rule out hardware issues.
