Exercise: Design a semantic model for scale in Fabric

Completed

In this exercise, you design a semantic model for scale in Microsoft Fabric by completing the following tasks:

  • Connect to Fabric data sources using Direct Lake.
  • Build a star schema with fact and dimension tables.
  • Configure relationships with appropriate filter direction.
  • Create a calculation group for time intelligence across multiple measures.
  • Configure settings for scale: enable large semantic model storage format, configure XMLA endpoint access, and enable OneLake integration.
  • Verify model behavior by confirming Direct Lake mode and checking fallback configuration.

This lab takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
