Hi BSokolow,
I understand how confusing this can be, especially when you still have plenty of free space but System Restore keeps failing. Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, please try the following:
1, Reset System Restore storage
- Press Windows + R, type
sysdm.cpl - Go to “System Protection”
- Select your system drive (usually “C:”) > click “Configure”
- Click “Disable system protection” > Apply (Note: This will delete all existing restore points)
- Turn it back on by selecting “Turn on system protection”
2, Increase the allocated space
- In the same “Configure” window
- Under “Disk Space Usage”, move the Max Usage slider to a higher value
- Click Apply > OK
This ensures Windows has enough reserved space to create new restore points.
3, Try creating a restore point again
After resetting and increasing the quota, test creating a new restore point.
