We had a really frustrating experience during our webinar today. With 30+ attendees on the session, the meeting suddenly ended midway for everyone. Participants were shown a message saying the host has ended the meeting, even though the host hadn’t taken any such action.

Has anyone else run into this before? Any idea what could cause this, and how we can make sure it doesn’t happen again?WhatsApp Image 2026-04-30 at 3.22.46 PM

    Hello @Zakhwan Synax

Good day! I hope you are doing well.

Based on your description, I understand that the Microsoft Teams webinar ended unexpectedly during the session, removing all attendees with a message indicating the host had ended the event, even though no organizer intentionally did so. I understand how disruptive this would be, particularly with many attendees impacted.

Please let me know if I misunderstood any part of your issue or if there are additional details you’d like to share.

To help us provide the most accurate and effective solution for your issue, could you share a bit more detail about your setup:

    • How many organizers were assigned to the webinar?
    • Were the organizers joining from desktop, mobile, or a mix of both?
    • Did the webinar reach or pass the scheduled end time when this occurred?
    • Did the organizer experience any network interruption, app crash, or device sleep around that time?
    • Is this the first time this has happened, or has it occurred in previous webinars as well?
    • When you open the webinar details and navigate to the Attendance Report, could you check whether the event end time matches the disconnection time?

This additional context will help us better understand your environment and identify whether this was caused by organizer connectivity, role configuration, scheduling behavior, or a possible service-side issue.

I apologize if I could not jump straight to a solution. I want to avoid suggesting anything that might be inaccurate or unhelpful. Once I have the details above, I’ll be able to assist you more effectively and guide you toward the right resolution.

Looking forward to your response so we can get this sorted out for you together.

Teams webinars and meetings end for everyone only when an organizer or presenter with the necessary permissions explicitly ends the meeting.

In Teams meetings and Bookings-based appointments, this is done from the meeting controls by choosing End meeting instead of just leaving:

    1. In the meeting controls, open the menu next to Leave or More options ….
    2. Select End meeting.
    3. Confirm the action.

When this happens, all attendees see that the event has concluded and are disconnected, which matches the behavior described.

To avoid unexpected endings in future webinars:

    • Ensure only trusted organizers/presenters have access to the End meeting control.
    • Instruct co‑presenters to use Leave (or close their client) instead of End meeting if they need to exit individually.
    • For appointments created via Bookings, staff should end the meeting for everyone only when the session is truly finished, as this is designed for compliance scenarios.

If no one with organizer/presenter rights intentionally used End meeting, collect the meeting time, organizer, and tenant details and open a support case so Microsoft can review backend logs for a potential service issue.
